You'd think we're panicing about the tour or something. What else would drive 3 normally sane riders (myself, Corbin and Louise) to start a ride in the rain, and continue in the cold rain?

We started from their house on Sunday afternoon and rode the 2 miles up to the main road. You have to see this climb to believe it. It climbs >200m in just 3km, with a couple of descents in there too. The steepest part is pretty ridiculous for unicycling, but I made it up (with 152mm cranks). The rain was coming down so hard the road was just running with water. I guess we really love this stuff. Sorry no pictures - I don't have a waterproof camera.

See you all very soon.

---Nathan

Here's the Route

A bunch of us did our Ride The Lobster Qualifications this past weekend here in California. On Saturday we did a short but steep ride (46km with 1000m climbing), with some gravel, then on Sunday we had a total of 16 unicyclists (not everyone completed all of the ride) for our 5th Annual Unicycle Tour of San Francisco. This is a 70km ride with about 900-1000m of climbing. The ride started at 8:10am and finished around 5:30 with an incredible dinner afterwards. Great weekend.

Photos: Saturday Sunday

Here's looking forward to many fun training rides until we all meet in Hanoi.

---Nathan
