Oh Man! It's been 40 degrees the last couple of days. Yup, it's summer here and I'm supposed to be training for the tour. I wish I was one of those disciplined ones who'd plan ahead, wake up early, beat the sun and get the riding done. Or I wish I was one of those extremely lazy ones, who'd get out of bed, head out on the uni and then wake up. At least then I can't blame myself (too much) when I end up with heatstroke. But nah! I'm one of those who knows the day is gonna be a scorcher and still wake up late, just in time for a midday ride. You ride the first couple of km and then realize that you better ride as fast as you can, or you'll be bringing in the New Year in a hospital. Well, on the bright side (not the best pun, more so if you're suffering from extreme dehydration), I did get some good miles in. And then you head down to the gym to get some of that air-conditioning and its closed for the New Year...Jeez!

Didn't get as much riding last week since I was mourning India's loss to Australia in the cricket (the only sport that goes on for 5 days but can still end without a winner). Oh well!

Still need that T7 handle...

Have a great 2008.

It's about time I got started with this...and I'm am not just talking about training for this tour. But as I always say, "If you do it all today, there's nothing left for tomorrow." That's exactly how November was whiled away. The official excuse was that I was getting over another year at University. Then December came and as we all know, the first week doesn't count. Finally, I got on my Coker on the second week of December.

I'be been riding for two weeks now. Doing some easy hour rides. My route has a couple of undulations in it. Apart from the odd snake and some embarrassed two-wheelers that get overtaken on the uphill sections, it's been smooth sailing. Oh! And I UPD'ed three times yesterday after not having that done that for a year and a half. Oh well! Apart from that, I've been out for a few runs, some 2-wheeling action (the first time I ever went off-road on 2 wheels was this week. Quite fun!) and chilling out at the gym (I know the boss and they have air conditioning. It's summer here!).

So, with all the riding going well, I'm now concentrating on trying to coax the Coker into getting some work done. She's sagging in places and things are...well...not too great. Maybe a saddle upgrade and a T7 handle. The handles are out of stock in Oz (I'm looking at you, Mal Bird). For now she gets 110mm cranks and some lube. I wasn't too keen on a paintjob since all those airline stickers are a bitch to scrape off. As Ken mentioned (Thanks!), I NEED a Coker bag. Maybe I'll get on that now...tomorrow (of course).

And of course, I'll post another entry tomorrow (right after I see some pigs fly) ;)

Cheers
